As I continue to search for ways to live frugal and earn income on the road, I'll update this page. After about 3 months of searching, blogging, and trying to strategies, these are the best resources I've found.

Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission for referrals. However, I only recommend tools and resources that I personally use or find valuable.

Make Extra Money

Vindale Research is a market research company that pays you for answering surveys and providing your opinion. This is my favorite of the market research companies that I've found. Signing up is quick and surveys are short, so you can have money in your account within 5-10mins after signing up. You can earn money from your phone while driving down the road, lounging on the couch, or sitting by the campfire.

You're not doing anything else right now, so why not?

Fiverr is an online user-based marketplace. It started as a platform for people to buy and sell services at a flat rate of $5. Over the passed several years, it has evolved. Now, sellers are able to charge more for their services but they're still required to have a basic option that's relatively cheap (I believe it's $10).

There aren't many limitations to what service you can sell, despite that it seems saturated with graphic designers and web tech services. When I first heard about Fiverr, there was a guy who would go to a grocery store, pick out a gallon of milk, throw it as high as he could, and film it has it exploded on the grocery store floor (for $5).

Although I haven't received any inquiries, my Fiverr service offering is a videogram Justin Timberlake impersonation/cover song. I did, however, pay someone to design the logo for this website.

I know there's A LOT of animal lovers on the road! DogVacay is a peer to peer market for pet services!  You can set up a host account for free and make money taking care of pets while you're on the road.

Although I haven't booked any jobs as a host yet, I have used DogVacay to find dog sitters and I absolutely love the platform AND quality of service!

UpWork is a fantastic website for web based freelancers! Job types include web design, programming, blogging, guest blogging, content marketing, creative writing, transcription, and many, many more!

You don't have to fluff up your resume here, not that I would recommend doing that anyways. You can select your experience level and price range to match your skill set. Some people are looking for cheap and they're perfectly fine with hiring someone who's inexperienced. Others are willing to pay a premium for advanced skills. Win!

Etsy is one you've probably heard of; it's a platform where people can buy and sell products, primarily homemade crafts. So if you're the type who browses Pinterest for decorating ideas, you can put your own spin one of your creations and sell it here!

My wife and I have not sold anything here but we are working on a product now. We have bought a number of things off Etsy and have never been disappointed.

Save Extra Money

Amazon Prime is perhaps the most underutilized and misunderstood service in the RV community...but it could have been designed for us exclusively! Discounted essential products delivered, Free streaming t.v and movies, Grocery delivery service, 2 day shipping - it's basically a service designed to provide digital convenience, discounts on necessicities, and quick delivery - everything an RVer needs and at $100 a year, it's likely to pay for itself in 3 months if you take advantage of all the offerings. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Same day delivery in select areas
  • 2 day shipping on most products
  • Free UNLIMITED photo storage for you and up to 5 people!
  • 20% off diapers!
  • Early access to lightning deals (deep discounts)
  • Flat Rate Grocery Delivery!
  • Free TV & Movie Streaming
  • 5% Cash Back Store Card
  • Amazon Dash (Quick order essential products with a click)
  • 6 Free Editor's Pick Kindle books per month
  • Prime Reading (digital publications on any device)

Groupon is a website that's been around for a while. The basic idea was to give bulk discounts to individuals who grouped up to hit the quantity requirement...and the idea exploded! Groupon is now fighting competition to stay at the top and I think they're doing a pretty good job! For RVers, Groupon is great because of its location specific search. This means you can find great deals in every area you travel to. And all you have to do is pull out your phone and open the app.

$5 Meal Plan is exactly what it sounds like. We have not used this service yet but we have read nothing but good reviews from reliable sources. We plan to use this service when we hit the road.

EBATES is a great way to receive cash back from your purchases. It's more than just a discount. It's cash back! Which is essentially the same thing...but this just feels so much better!

Financial Resources

Mint has been my "go-to" resource for budgeting since college. This is a FREE online program that consolidates all of your financial information to one place. You can set goals, track spending habits, create a budget, and more.

Credit Karma is another online website I've been using for a while. This website is a FREE online credit tracking program. It pulls your credit score and credit details from Experian and tells you which areas you can improve on. It's a must have!

SIMPLE is an online bank that we've recently started using. As the name indicates, the userability and general functionality is extremely simple. The service team is great, the app is great, and the functionality is great. The only fallback is there are no cash deposits. Everything else can be done directly through the app.

bluehost is the server I use to house all of my blog content. It's one of the cheapest hosts out there and they provide a solid service for a reasonable price! You can essentially start a blog for about $5 a month, which gives you your own website, a custom e-mail address, and access to the "go-to" blogging platform, WordPress.
